The key direction of work is the development of the eco products market. We have been constantly conducting awareness-raising activities (trainings) aimed at informing producers and users of environmental certificates about the benefits of using ecolabels, as well as their correct and effective use.

With the growing demand of the Ukrainian consumer for eco-products, greenwashing is also developing. With the purpose of revealing greenwashing, a special expert commission has been established at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. The commission includes the representatives of the Ministry, supervising organizations, NGOs for consumer protection and experts. This commission monitors the products in trade networks and in accessible sources of information (manufacturers' websites, and Internet shops). If the fact of application of questionable ecolabels or organic markings is fixed, the manufacturer shall be requested to confirm the documentation on the lawful application of the ecolabels. If the documents were not provided, the materials shall be sent to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine for investigation.

In accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Economic Competition" violators must be fined up to 5% of gross annual income (according to data for the previous year). At the moment about 200 cases are being investigated. Some producers were fined. The information about each separately revealed fact is placed on the information portal of the consumer - www.gpp.in.ua on a specially created page "Note! Possible deceptive statements."
