The Ecolabel Guide is an international consumer resource designed to help users identify credible environmental labels and distinguish them from misleading environmental claims. Developed using United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) methodology and supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers, the guide recommends Type I ecolabels based on third-party certification in accordance with ISO 14024.

The "Green Crane" Ecolabel

Ukraine's "Green Crane" ecolabel is included in the guide alongside internationally recognised Type I ecolabels such as the EU Ecolabel, Nordic Swan Ecolabel, and Blue Angel. This inclusion provides international visibility for Ukraine's Type I ecolabelling program.

Background and purpose

The Ecolabel Guide was created in 2018 by the environmental NGO Ecological Union with support from the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN).

It has been periodically reviewed and updated to help consumers identify credible ecolabels based on independent certification and help prevent greenwashing.
